This FTP (file transfer protocol) process is a fast and easy
way to get your advertisements to our production people at The Ottawa Sun.
Just follow these simple steps:
- Familiarize yourself with the Technical Specifications below.
- Print and fax this completed Confirmation
Form with a copy of your ad.
- Compress your file using Zip, Stuffit, Disk Doubler, Compact Pro or some
similar software. This is important since compressed files transfer more
quickly and accurately over the Internet.
- Upload your ad in the appropriate manner below:

MAC:
- Explorer Browser: Unfortunately Microsoft Explorer does not
have a built-in FTP feature. Users of this browser will have to use
an FTP program such as Fetch, available from Tucows:
simply type Fetch in the search box. Once downloaded and installed,
use 209.87.237.100 as the "host address", forever as your
user ID, and 4everYng as your password. (User name and password are case sensitive).

PC:

Technical
Specifications
All files must be Macintosh compatible. We are unable
to edit Windows/PC files so if you send this format, please ensure all technical
specs are correct and the ad is final.

We can accept PDF from Mac or PC, Mac AI (Version 8.0 or older), EPS, any version
(Mac & PC), and Quark (Mac) version 4.0 files only
- We cannot accept ads created in Microsoft Word, Publisher or Corel Draw, or any ads saved as pictures (.jpeg, .gif, .tif).

Include all images, fonts and supporting files in your
compressed file (archive)

Process colour images must be supplied in CMYK format
with binary encoding

Images must be provided in the right size (dimensions)
in which they will appear in the ad

Resolution of at least 200 dpi for both colour and black and white
images

Resolution of 400-600 dpi for TIFF art
-
Photo images must be in EPS or TIFF format; it is preferable
that all graphic files are EPS format

Selected spot colours must be edited for process separations
85 linescreen for B&W 100 linescreen for colour
- A copy of your ad must be faxed along with your Confirmation
